In a Solo Performance at the Bardavon as part her “The You and Me Tour” Saturday, June 23, 2012

Poughkeepsie, NY – Children’s music superstar Laurie Berkner will play the Bardavon in Poughkeepsie in a solo performance as part of her "The You and Me Tour" on Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 am. Dubbed “the queen of children’s music” by People Magazine, Laurie has won over legions of little fans with smart songwriting and infectious melodies.

This phenomenally successful children’s recording artist has been credited with launching today’s progressive “kiddie rock” movement. The Wall Street Journal called Laurie “one of the most popular children’s performers in America … Her music is distinctive because it speaks to kids without talking down to them, charming youngsters without boring grown-ups.”

Laurie will perform old favorites as well as songs from her DVD, Party Day! Kids can bring a favorite stuffed animal (those in the know will put them on their heads for Pig On Her Head) and wear their party clothes and dancing shoes. Party Day! (Two Tomatoes Records/Razor & Tie) entered the Billboard Top Music Videos chart at #1 when it debuted last summer. Laurie recently authored Barnes & Noble’s first-ever original NOOK Kids Read and Play™ NOOK Kids book, based on the joyous title track from Party Day!

A former preschool music teacher by day and indie rocker by night, Laurie started selling her music over 10 years ago out of her living room. She was the first artist to ever appear in music videos on Nick Jr., Nickelodeon’s commercial-free preschool network. Her award-winning best-selling CDs and DVDs have received rave reviews in national media outlets everywhere from Parents to Time.
